MeetU Networking App

Picture this. It's December. You're a college student, 22 years old, approaching your final semester of school.

You've heard how important it is to network, but the truth is, you don't know where to start! You do well in school, but how are you going to connect with others once school is over?

This is where MeetU comes in. The "U" stands for university, as this app is a talior made app for juniors and seniors in university, like yourself.

  • Process and obstacles

    The first thing I did was break down three things:

    Who exactly would use an app like this, How would they use it, and Why would they use it?


    Since the main goal of the app is for students to network with one another, I wanted to create a simple-to-use platform experience that would allow them to easily send messages to one another, and discover students with similar interests.


    User experience for any app is very important, and in this case, since college students are extremely busy, they need an app that's easy to learn, and easy to use.


    For the design, I went through many styles and colors before picking two main colors, red and blue, that would attract those in the target group.


    And, since most people, especially those 20-25, use their phones with their dominant hand, I wanted to design the app in a way that would allow them to easily do so, whether right handed or left handed.

  • I start with sketching some rough ideas of how pages will flow together and figuring out how to make the connection as clear and simple as possible.

  • I also like to look at the different ways that someone could find this product and the tasks they might want to do.

    I've noticed that every product has two goals - the goal of the one who builds it, and the goal of the one using it.

  • Now that I have some ideas, I go in and get a rough idea of how someone would go from Point A to Point B - in this case, how would someone send a message?

  • One main goal of this app is for students to meet those who are in their field.

    The captial letters with the circle represent every student's major and helps them recognize who is in common with them - In this case, VA = Visual Arts, and CS = Computer Science.

  • Many students are not sure of how to begin networking, so inside, there's an easy-to-use guide for them to follow.

  • MeetU recommends people that you may be interested in meeting based on your major and similar interests.

La Pierre Shopify Website

La Pierre is a Shopify E-Commerce online brand located in the Miami area.

The goal for this project was to create a beautiful website that is easy for customers to use and navigate.

This project is still in development.

  • How I built it

    This website is being built from scratch with HTML, CSS, and Vanilla JavaScript.


    Shopify users can also use this website as a purchased theme to easily build their online store.


    For the design, the goal was to keep the page clean and professional, and make sure that vital aspects on each page, like the search and cart features, are easily accessible..


    There were some challenges in regards to making the site more interactive and dynamic. One example, is when creating a dropdown menu, and targeting that element using Event Listeners.

Building ideas with design and code.

I first got into design when the pandemic first began. Bored at home, I dowloaded Adobe Creative Cloud and learned graphic design, photography, animation, and more. Fast forward a few months, I found myself designing websites and apps on my laptop. Only one problem - I wanted to see how these designs would look "live"! That's when I learned to code.

Currently, I'm focusing on building easy-to-use websites and apps on the web. I do this though User Experience Design and Front End Development. I have a lot to learn, but I enjoy being able to build ideas, and with polished design and clean code, we can do that together.
